Eligibility Checklist for Traumatic Brain Injury - When determining if a child with a brain injury is eligible for identification under IDEA (will have an IEP) the eligibility team must examine the child's educational performance, considering both academic and non-academic skills and progress. This checklist is published by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, but applies to eligibility in New Hampshire as well. Look at cognition, memory, reasoning, communication, problem solving, physical functions, psychosocial behavior (psychological or social functioning), executive functions (organizing, evaluating, and goal directed activities), speech and language, attention, abstract thinking, judgment, sensory/perceptual/motor activities, and information processing. Investigating these needs may require evaluations from specialists in several fields.
